February
Second semester is underway, which means a lot of 'lasts' for our seniors who will soon be finding out where their next home will be. Juniors have begun applying for Campus Service positions next year and thinking about what colleges they might want to apply to next year. Thank you to all for your continued support of 1st Hunt, your dedication to making it be the best hall it can be, and for being the best to get to know. Here's to an awesome 2nd semester as we race toward the end of the year!
2nd Half of Year Birthday Celebration and Hall Food Sign Up
HERE is the link to provide a birthday celebration or hall food for the 2nd half of the year. Just like first semester, families can work together to provide food for the hall. It was really appreciated when there was a "spread" to enjoy. They felt extremely grateful and were very appreciative of the thoughtfulness that went into providing for them. Not to mention other halls were jealous that we were able to enjoy food so often. Thank you again for helping bring 1st Hunt together through sharing food together!
J-Term Highlights
Everyone seemed to enjoy J-Term and was able to take away something from their coureses even if they may not have played out the way they imagined. Here are photos from various members of 1st Hunt who sent in photos to be included in the hall blog!
Sue Anne couldn't forget 1st Hunt when visiting the Ferrari Museum in Italy!
Caspian shared pictures from the Grand Canyon and flying over the Rockies!
Musa shared a variety of pictures from his J-Term course and time enjoying the snow with 1HT!
Vijay shared photos from his time in Morganton!
Connor shared a few pics of him, Wesley, and Aiden enjoying their J-Term!

January Beyond Hunt
We welcome Mahesh Bobaddi '20 back to 1st Hunt in January to share about his experiences after NCSSM. Mahesh attended NC State and is now working towards his master's in data science! He was kind enough to come visit with us late at night even though he had a job interview the next day!
Snow Pancakes!
First Hunt tradition states that when it snows, Sue Anne and her wife, Kelley, cook pancakes for 1st Hunt. So the night it started snowing in Durham, we made pancakes after check for everyone using our special recipe!
Gaga Ball with 4th East
A big thanks to 4th East who invited us to play gaga ball in the Wrestling Room.
If the setup was insane, then the intensity was even crazier!

Senior Leadership Campus Service:
“The Senior Leadership Campus Service (SLCS) selection process is underway! Over twenty different assignments participate in this process which should help juniors find a senior campus service assignment they’re excited about. An overview of the process and the various positions can be found on the site. Please note that the SLCS process does not account for every senior campus service assignment. There are many opportunities for leadership in campus service to consider. Juniors should reach out to any employees that they may be interested in working with next year.”
Residence Halls Closing & Opening:
“Just a quick reminder that the Residence Halls will be closing on Thursday, February 27th at 5:00pm. Halls will reopen on Sunday, March 2nd at noon.
Students will submit an Overnight pass on Orah before or during our hall meeting right before the Extended Weekend. On this Orah pass, they indicate where they are going for the break, who they are traveling with, and how they are getting to their destination. If students have specific questions about checkout procedures for the Extended Weekend, they should speak to me.”
