December

The end of the semester is only a few days away, which means everyone is working on final papers, projects, and starting to study for exams.  The semester has continued to fly by and I expect no different of the last days before the long break. Our community continues to thrive and grow each day. We've enjoyed lots of activities throughout the last month and a few remaining ones left before the break. I'm hopeful the break will provide time for everyone to catch up with friends, rest and recover from the semester, gear up for J-Term, and reflect on the semester.

Thank You: Birthday Celebrations

A huge thank you to the D'Annunzio, Lewis, and Pillon de Lima families for supplying the November birthday celebration and to the Adkin family for providing for the December celebration. As always, it was a great time recognizing those with birthday's and getting to celebrate with treats!

Happenings On Hall

Beyond Hunt: Brandon Tucker '21 & Emile Charles '19

In November, Brandon Tucker '21 joined us from NCSU where he has already graduated with an engineering degree and is working on his masters. Due to credits from his NCSSM courses, he was able to graduate early and begin grad school. At NCSU, he has been an RA, had internships, and studied abroad! There was a lively debate on liking or disliking traffic circles during Brandon's time on hall.

In December, Emile Charles '19 joined us from UNC. Emile wille be graduating this coming may with a public health degree concentrating on nutrition and a French minor. Emile's journey has taken a little longer due to taking 2 gap years to gain experience in the public health sector in Africa as well as organizing Black Lives Matter protest in Chapel Hill during that height of that movement.  Emile will be applying to med school this upcoming spring.

Hall Dinner: El Rodeo

For our 1st Hunt family dinner this month, we visited El Rodeo! It's one of my family favorites and didn't disappoint 1st Hunt either. We had a great time and left with full bellies!

1st Hunt Potluck

We had a great turn out for the 1st Hunt potluck on December 1st with approximately 1/3 of the hall attending. Parents had a great time getting to know one another and the hall had a great time eating and playing ping pong in the student center. It was a great event and I'm so glad we were able to make it happen. There were request to do another, so we'll take a look at having one more in the spring with hopes of others being able to attend. Thank you for providing delicious foods for us all to enjoy as we definitely had left overs which were taken back to hall so students returning later in the evening could enjoy the potluck as well!

Cookie Decorating

Delicious time decorating cookies... and eating them!

Rainbow Loom Bracelets with Royall

Since making rainbow loom bracelets last year was a hit, we ran it back again this year with 1st Royall joining us! Garrecyn came to this event since she knew how to make them and the professional on hand along with one of the Royall students. Everyone walked away with their own swag and had a great time!

S'mores with 1st Beall

Yum Yum Box - Belgium

The Belgium box was a hit! It came with A LOT of chocolate, which was a huge hit along with other tasty treats!

Sock Wrestling

Dodgeball Against 2nd East

We had a great time playing dodgeball against 2nd East early in November. Dan was the lucky one who was able to sink the shot on the opposite goal to end the game of 1st Hunt's version of dodgeball..... hit the opposite backboard and your entire team gets back in... make the shot and you automatically win!

Upcoming November Highlights

Get excited about what's to come next month on 1st Hunt:

TO BE DETERMINED!

Before leaving for break, I'll work with other CC's to make sure there are fun things to do while I'm in Itally. Stay tuned!
